A Doughnut Debacle

May 5th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

So it turns out the men in my office have an obsession with jam filled doughnuts. Everyday somebody pops to Tescos to get the 3pm sugar fix but the packaging is very misleading, we’ve had jam in a chocolate bag, ring in a jam bag and chocolate in a ring bag. Thank goodness nobody is allergic to chocolate! Sort your packaging out Mr Tesco!!!

The great shoe debate

April 26th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

This British weather has somewhat dampened the mood this week. Not only is the weather leading to frizzy hair and lunch hours spent at the desk but I am also finding it incredibly difficult to find rain appropriate shoes.

After my over enthusiastic wardrobe clear out I got rid of my old favourites which were so well worn a bit of rain didn’t make a difference. My newest addition to the shoe collection are a beautiful suede pair from Russell & Bromley, very work appropriate but they would be ruined if I wore them outside!

Looking around I can see that women fit into 1 of 4 camps. The first is the trainer camp, you forego the appearance of your outfit for comfort. Most of the women in this club are older and perhaps wiser, but as a twenty something I’m not quite ready for this option.

The second is the boot camp, a much more stylish approach. Black boots are donned with skirts or dresses and your entire foot is kept dry and there is a very slim chance that your shoe would be ruined. My problem with this option is I have a tendency to wear trousers to work, so boots would either look too casual or would completely ruin the outfit. It’s also April so I want to wear lighter, brighter colours and the boots that are often selected have a very wintery feel.

The third camp is the cheap pumps camp. The shoes you don’t care about ruining. I do occasionally fall into this category – I have to if I want to wear the suede shoes. This option often looks scruffy and I do find it slightly worrying that some women don’t appear to be carrying an alternative shoe.

The final category is the ‘I’ll risk it camp’; those brave women who don their high heels and beautiful loafers, look exquisite whilst doing it but will their leather soled shoes survive?

So what should I wear on my feet in the rain? Help!

I think I’m missing something

I don’t understand Pinterest.

I have Pinterest, I have friends that use Pinterest, but I just don’t get it. I have asked people ‘is it just people sharing stuff they like online?’ and apparently that’s it.

I think the problem is that I am yet to spend more than about 5 minutes on Pinterest and I don’t think it’s a 5 minute thing.

So far today I have seen pictures of pretty children, a chocolate cake that looks as though it could induce a heart attack and the American flag. What?

When I open Pinterest it looks really exciting, I really want to get involved and find out more… but I don’t have time. Can somebody please tell me why I should love Pinterest and how I can appreciate it whilst only spending 5 minutes a day… I’m already struggling to keep up with this blog, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram…
